The Sámi people have lived for centuries in the Arctic regions of Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Russia, and their cuisine reflects the harsh winters, abundant forests, and Arctic herding lifestyle.

February is an important month in Sami culture. 6 February is Sami National Day, a day when in the Nordics we celebrate Sami culture and traditions. Flags are raised, songs are sung and we remember how important it is to honour the traditions of Europe's only indigenous people.

I love to take the opportunity to eat traditional food whenever I can and this unusual menu highlights traditional dishes and seasonal ingredients, perfect for a cold winter day. It's a fun and exciting way to experience some Sami culture in your own life wherever you are in the world and connect you to a part of the Nordics that we hold so dear.
