There’s a particular kind of quiet politeness in the Nordic countries. It doesn’t announce itself with grand gestures or effusive chatter. It’s not about saying the perfect thing or smiling until your cheeks ache. In fact, much of Nordic politeness is about what you don’t do — the small silences, the invisible courtesies, the shared understanding that everyone is entitled to space.
