The Norwegian Tradition of the Open Farm

Norwegians really pride themselves on their support of their farmers. The close connection to the land is something that is a really important part of Norwegian society and culture. In a country where much of the land is not as fertile as other parts of Europe, you can understand why everyone would want to cheer on those growing and producing their food.
Quite apart from the Norwegian government's tireless efforts to get the population to support Norwegian produced food, everyone does it anyway. Norwegian food is always at the forefront of the supermarket shelves and locally produce is always a favourite and no-one seems to mind about paying a premium for it.
