I am sure there are as many variations of pickled herring as there are regions in Scandinavia. Pickled herring is popular not only throughout Scandinavia but the Baltic countries and Germany. I am a big fan of it and love to have a jar or two in my fridge all the time. It's perfect as a healthy snack, a light lunch or for the buffet table for a celebration.
